Theology for Kids

A Word to the Parents

It is a duty and delight to be able to teach our children the Scriptures. Deuteronomy 6:7 states, “You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise”. Children are a “heritage from the Lord” (Psalm 127:3). The responsibility that the Lord has entrusted to parents’ in bringing up their children “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4) is of paramount importance. The purpose of this book is to provide a basic understanding of systematic theology for children. It is something that can be read to children during family devotions or simply during any of their book reading time. As your child learns to read, this can be a book that they read through over the years as they develop in comprehension and understanding. As they read and ask questions they will begin to form in their own minds an understanding of theology that will equip them for further study. This will serve as a helpful foundation for deeper study in the Scriptures as they approach their teenage years.

A Word to the Reader

I have written this book to help you understand important topics found in the Bible. I hope you can read this book often over the years and look up all the Bible verses I mention (and even memorize them!). Make sure you talk to your parents about the things you read and share it with your friends. Remember, the most important book you can read is the Bible so learn to read it and love it. At the end of this book are some things for you to also remember – the Ten Commandments and the Lord’s Prayer. Have fun reading!
